Debt to GDP ratio of the nations

I’m a bit of an economic information junkie, and found this tidbit interesting. Following are the Debt to GDP ratio of some of the major industrial nations (source: US News). Japan’s is off the charts:

Japan  – 225.9%
United States – 92.7%
France  – 84.7%
Germany – 82.4%
Canada  – 81.7%
UK  – 76.7%
Brazil – 66.8%
China  – 19.1%
